Award in the competition “Nagroda Pomorska Gryf Gospodarczy 2021”
Gdansk Foundation for Management Development and the UP Foundation from Gdansk were distinguished in the “Nagroda Pomorska Gryf Gospodarczy” competition, organized by the Pomeranian Council of Entrepreneurship. The two organizations were awarded in the category of “Social Responsibility Leader” in the subcategory of small and micro enterprises,.
“Nagroda Pomorska Gryf Gospodarczy” competition has been awarded continuously since the year 2000. The aim of the competition is, among others, to promote entrepreneurship, support and initiate innovative and pro-development projects as well as disseminate good practices in business. The award in the “Social Responsibility Leader” category in the small and micro enterprise subcategory was awarded for the first time.
The Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development was appreciated by the jury of the competition primarily for its commitment to organizing high-quality, tuition-free forms of education in the field of entrepreneurship. The evaluation emphasized that GFKM bases its activities on the four Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda: Good quality of education, Gender equality, Decent work and economic growth and Partnership for the goals.
– We allocate all the profits generated by GFKM from business activities to non-profit activities. In this type of activity, we especially want to reach young people and young managers who are at the beginning of their life adventure with entrepreneurship and management. At this development stage, attitudes and competences are formed, which in the future will result in the implementation of good management and CSR practices in business – says Jolanta Szydłowska, President of the Management Board of the Gdansk Foundation for Management Development.
The non-profit GFKM projects that have gained recognition from the jury include: Young Leader Academy (a series of free training courses for foundations, associations and startups, i.e. organizations with a limited budget for self-development and employee development), Mindhub (a series of open lectures, focused in the field of management), GFKM Leadership Conference (an annual conference during which the latest trends in management are presented) and a series of free webinars. The jury also appreciated free-of-charge distribution of the reports from the research studies conducted by GFKM (Examples include “Study of the equality of women’s and men’s rights” “Industry 4.0. Competencies of the manager of the future “, “How companies coped in the pandemic and what are employees afraid of?”)
GFKM is engaged in cooperation with municipalities (Gdynia Business Plan Competition with the City of Gdynia, Holiday Internship with the City of Gdańsk) and other non-profit organizations. One of them is the Foundation for Initiating Development “UP Foundation”, which was also awarded in this competition in the same category. The first joint project of GFKM and UP Foundation was the webinar “Sustainable business is a profitable business and a necessity”. Experts from both organizations have jointly developed an innovative postgraduate program “CSR Policy in the Company – Sustainable Development and Climate Neutrality”.
